Up dates

so again it's been a while but time just seems to escape me at the moment.

Logan had his 'next steps' meeting and u half expected him to be a total sod and do nothing but cry when he saw everyone who 'pulls him around' in one room (he has in the past) but i was wrong he was an angel  he greeted everyone with a huge smile and a bob up and down and they got to work, everyone was amazed at how well he is coming along and just how well he is starting to sit now and we have some new equipment for him that will help him when laying on his side as well as a portable chair to sit in.
A report was written and we are waiting to receive that back.

We made the long and early trip up to 'Great Ormond Street' hospital now normally i do not have a bad word to say about this hospital they have always been totally amazing with Logan and have been great support and reassurance for me and frank but on this occasion it wasn't totally the case. Logan's first appointment (he had three one after the other) was at 9am so Logan was already a bit irritable from the early start he soon forgot about all that when he saw the wonderful toys there and he played for a good 30 mins before we were called in a tall and to be honest rather unfriendly lady came out and called Logan in we went into a small room and sat down, she asked me to tell her a little about Logan's vision history and so i started with the obvious he has nytagmas and her answer was 'Well i know that' ok i thought but you DID ask for his history. She then proceeded to flick through his notes from the pervious visit, and said 'we discharged you why are you here' humm by this point i was feeling a little annoyed, i explained we had been refereed back from our local hospital for repeat electro testing. She then told me 'well whats the point in that when he has already had it done there won't be any change' well i was pretty relieve to hear her say that and i didn't really in my heart of hearts expect a change but i did go on to tell her what i had been told at our local and that was they would want these test done regularly. on which she replied ' i can tell you right now that will never happen' end of she then got some cards out flashed them in front of Logan and said ' i will talk to the consultant to see if he wants the testing done i don't think he will' to be honest i was pretty furious she was rude and un- friendly to Logan and we had really had a wasted trip as they had done nothing that they couldn't and already had done at our local hospital. After a short wait we were told they wouldn't do the test, so we saw the consultant who was lovely with Logan and chatted to him had a good look into his eyes and said he was very happy that Logan was looking at him and focussing well. So although it was a long morning most of it wasted it was good to know they were happy with Logan.

We had a quiet day the next day and me and Logan went for a walk around the shops and had a coffee (well i had coffee Logan had milk)

We got some mothers day presents and then went home, Logan was pretty tired after the day before.

That weekend Logan was invited to a birthday party one of the little boys we look after and so he got his glad rags on and with a smile off we went :)

We did stop off at the harvester before we went, and Logan enjoyed some cucumber :D

At the end of last week we went for a follow up appointment at the Evilina and it bought us good and not so good news. First the good Logan was weighted and he put on a massive half a kilogram making his new weight 6.7kg (14lb 7oz) i was over the moon that the new 'get as much as humanly possible' into Logan was working and i pretty sure he is better off for the extra weight. But then came the bad news Logan will need a small operation his right testicle is still sitting in the space where his hernia was and it needs to be fixed so all be it small Logan will go to the Evilina in 3-4 months time for his 10 surgery :( at least this time i can stay with him. We also visited all the wonderful staff that looked after Logan when he was so small and sick they were over the moon to see him doing so well and he got lots of lovely cuddles from them all, i still can't thank them enough for what they have done for him.

Today Logan will spend the day with nanny and grandpop's as me and frank are going out to celebrate my birthday. She has a whole day planned, painting, trips to the garden centre and much more hopefully he will be totally tired out by the time he comes home ;)

Sunny Days

It seems like ages since i updated this blog, maybe thats because it has been heheheh

Well we have been very busy half term week was spent mainly at nanny's house playing and having lots of fun (well Logan anyway lol) it was very busy with lots of children as all the school/pre school children were with us too, this made Logan enjoy his time there even more as he loves all the children.

Friday we had a well deserved day off and Logan and I really enjoyed spending some quality time together out and about, first we went for a walk around the shops, Logan enjoyed it so much he went to sleep :P
Napping in his buggy

Later in the day we did the food shopping which we all know by now is Logan's treat of the week he even drinks his milk better in the costa there

Milky in costa

He we totally as good as gold chatting and helping mummy by holding thing (unbreakable things that is :P)

This week was some what busier, A friend of ours gave us a door bouncer for Logan and now he is better at holding his head up we thought we would give it a go although he didn't tolerate it for long he actually really enjoyed bouncing around in it.

In the door bouncer
After waiting a week for Logan's doctors appointment on Tuesday it finally came up and i took Logan along expecting them to say everything was fine as he cough was miles better now, however the doctor listened to his chest i might add Logan took one look at him and screamed grabbing onto me which made it vert difficult for the doctor to examine him, his exact words 'he sounds a little congested in his chest ill give you some antibiotics' erghh well i went away not sure wether it was an infection or not but decided as he had had this cough for weeks the medication was maybe needed, and it helped his cough is even better now.

Logan was supposed to go to his toddler group on Wednesday but as the doctor said he may have an infection i didn't take him just incase he passed anything on even though in himself he was absolutely fine, work was busy anyway and i was really needed there so we stayed at nanny's a bit longer than usual.

Grand pops has been cooking yet again for Logan and made him some pretty delicious dairy free coco biscuits, Logan LOVED them i don't think i have ever seen him eat finger food with such enjoyment

I just love his little tongue in this picture :P
eating yummy biscuits.
Logan's trick of the week is rolling, well i use rolling in a loose term, he gets to his tummy with no problem at all but can't as yet get back, practice make perfect little one.

So that's our week in a nutshell with added pictures :P, Next week is equally if not more busy, with Logan's next steps meeting, with all his professionals and a trip to Great Ormond Street for his eyes, but more on that next week.

Just a few cute pictures ........

This is how Logan fell asleep the other night :P
Smile it's milk time :D

Yummy treats

The last few days have been pretty un-eventful with Logan eating like a pig (lets hope he puts on some bloody weight) and really getting the hang of finger foods, and he especially likes his special bread.

and he now pretty much drinks his milk on his own, so major improvements there. Apart from having an incessant cough that just won't shift he's been very well and very happy (touch wood) lets hope it stays that way as the appointments begin again next week with pretty much two full weeks, poor little one :(
We got an appointment through today for the genetics expert at guy's and St Thomas' she has seen him 2 times before, once at birth then not long before he was realised from hospital at St Thomas' so i'm sure she will not only be interested to see Logan but pleased with his progress.

Tomorrow we have a day off and me and Logan will be spending some quality mummy and son time together which we are both really looking forward too :)

Update

We all had a bust weekend and a busy start to the week. On Saturday i had another course so Logan spent  quality time with daddy playing with his toys and being a pickle ;P

On Sunday we went to Bluewater which Logan of course loved loved loved we are pretty sure he was a woman in his previous life he doesn't mind what shop so long as its a shop, he had lunch out and about and was pretty good about it considering it was freakishly packed full in the whole shopping centre

The rest of the days had happy and sad moments, Logan got his first hair cut well the first hair cut he needed not a skin head look :P (see below)

He cried and cried and it took daddy ages to do but the result was a very smart grown up little one with his curls all cut off :( it was much needed but i was kind of sad to see my baby boy so grown up

Today we went to nanny's as usual, Logan's grandpops made him some special bread so he could try some toast and he really liked it comping on the end and me feeding him little tiny bits he's getting the hang of chewing now.

He also had a play with some materials as he liked it at the toddler group we thought we would give it a go at home.

Been a while

it's been a few days since we updated Logan's blog, as i said perviously this week is super busy, and full of fun for Logan :)

Yesterday Logan had a chilled morning playing with the other children stacking bricks and doing his very favourite music time, it;s fast becoming his favourite time of the day banging drums and ringing bells we are convinced he's going to be a musician me and frank both love music and play instruments so we are happy Logan has adoped our passion and love for music :)

The after was even more fun as me and Logan went for our first 'play and stay' session at the Phoenix centre we played with lots of things feely things and messy things (logan wasn't too keen on the messy things :P) and then we visited the sensory room which Logan loved it wasn't until this point i realised how much he had been missing his weekly sensory room visits. After and rice cake and a drink and a little bit of singing with makaton signing it was time to go home. Logan had great fun and was totally shattered, YES !!!!

Today we finally got back to the sensory room, Marie-ann who works with Logan couldn't believe the change in him physically and visually, as he not only sits up better but can fix and follow and reach for things much easier now, he even did a bit of flirting with her pulling her hair, slapping her face and even smiling and chatting i told her she was privileged normally those are things he reserves only for me and daddy heheheh. All in all another long day, tomorrow should be quieter so a chill-axed day for Logan we think.

Busy Busy

Yesterday was an unexpectedly busy day me and Logan were going to have a snuggly day in because of the snow, but grandma wasn't feeling too well so we went to pick her up and took her to the doctors, Logan was an angel and actually really enjoyed being out for a bit after being cooped up inside since last Thursday after some milk we went back home Logan had his lunch and a nap and i caught up on some jobs unfortunately Logan had a long nap and was still asleep when the health visitor arrived and was totally and utterly pissed off with me when i woke him up and stripped him down :( it wasn't the best weight in Logan lost a little weight we guess due to being poorly and not eating quite as much as he should ohh well we will gain next time (Logan promised me :))

Today was just as busy and very very cold i tried to get Logan back to his normal routine getting to nanny's in the morning thankfully he slept well last night and seemed pretty happy to be getting back to normality. Logan showed nanny how he sits in his new chair and played happily with the other children for a while. After Milk and a nap we made the trek to London and with grandma poorly this was the first time mummy had ventured all the way there on our own. However apart from forgetting Logan's bag and having to park miles away Logan was a good boy and the outcome of the visit was good, Logan no longer has to take prophylactic antibiotics for his kidney as it is working pretty well with no visible issues yes !!! even better news, they as happy for our local hospital to follow him up letting them know of any changes, yes yes yes !!! he will still need to be monitored very closely as the presence of protein in his urine means there is a small amount of damage to his kidney but they are hopeful this shouldn't get any worse, but like everything else with Logan its a waiting game, but at least we can go home knowing that finally the appointments are getting less and less :D

Snowy Days

Logan had a bad night last night, he's still not feeling 100% suffering from a bad cough and seemingly a sore throat, it's so hard to know what he feels so we went through everything, teething gel, clean bum, cuddles and finally some calpol but he was pretty awake and upset for about 3 hours. On the up note after some new medicine from his homeopathic doctor his temperature is much better and actually he has recovered fairly quickly from this bout of poorlyness. He appears better still today so hopefully we can all have a cosy warm day playing inside, here is a smile from Logan for you all, i like to think it's a snow smile.

BECAUSE IT SNOWED !!! all night actually (i was up watching it as Logan was awake)

I love the snow i know i'm like a kid but it's just so pretty, i showed Logan the snow out of the window this morning and he looked at me as if to say 'yeh andddd' hehehe i guess maybe he will appreciate it a little more when he gets older and he can play and build snowmen in it.

Ups and Downs

These past couple of days we have had good and bad bits Logan was pretty poorly yesterday so Daddy stayed at home with him whilst i was working, his temperature was very high and has continued to be high all day today, our dr.'s confirmed just how bad they are to me when i called then yesterday at 2.30pm to get Logan an appointment and they didn't call me back until 7pm erghhh i called the out of hours dr but they wouldn't see Logan because our dr was supposed to be calling us back, when they finally did call back they wouldn't see Logan diagnosing over the phone without seeing him that he had 'a virus' as 'usally' temperatures as high as Logans (40c 103f) was due to viruses i took what she said as by this point Logan was beginning to feel a little better thanks to Nurofen and Calpol and said i would call back in the morning, which i did at 8am  as Logan has a temperature all through the night the nurse again over the phone said 'i have his notes here it's a virus im not sure i can do anything what would YOU like to do' at this point i said well i want him checked over so .. she huffed and puffed and said ohh ok come at 10.50am, so we went there and of course Logan was chatting and laughing in the waiting room making me look like a right numpty but when the nurse saw him she checked him over and it seemed his ears were a little red she said he probably had earache gave me antibiotics but said use the only if you think he needs them because you all know i am a Dr :P so anyway thats Logan being poorly.

On two good notes, Logan's auntie Martha sent him lots of nice new clothes very comfy pjs and sleep suits and super cute tops and jean jacket :) thank you auntie Martha.

And Logan has a new chair he was growing out of his Tumble form chair and is now much more capable of holding his head and body up so he graduated and he loves it :)

What a waste of time :(

Today started off badly as Logan decided 12.30am was 6am and preceded to be awake for 3 hours before finally falling asleep with me in my bed (poor daddy was kicked into the spare room :() But things only got worse when it began to snow, not only snow but bitter bitter cold and we had a trip to London to make in it.

As it happen the morning went fairly smoothly Logan was surprisingly happy after his broken sleep whilst mummy felt like a bear with a sore head in desperate need of coffee. We left nanny's house at 10 after Logan's milk and the snow began to fall even heavy grandma and I crossed our fingers that is wasn't going to get too bad whilst Logan had a little nap in the back of the car. We arrived in plenty of time and hoped for a parking spot close to the hospital but of course there wasn't so I unpacked all the car and Logan's buggy and grandma went with him into the warm of the hospital whilst i parked the car.

Logan's appointment was at 11.45am great i though should be over and done with by lunch time WRONG 12.15pm came and i asked the receptionist how long it would be Logan was now behaving like he had never been fed i mean he was 15 minutes over lunch time ;) her exact words were we are running VERY late now i understand they are busy so i said ok and we went and fed Logan he scoffed his dinner happily and we waited again it was nearly 1.00 before he got seem :( i was seething its too long for a little baby to wait. Anyway the scan was under way and as the scan was on Logan's .... 'boy bits' he thought it was great (typical man) he giggle through the whole thing the scan was to check that Logan's right testicle wasn't in his abdomen (which the junior surgeon was adamant it had) well she was wrong Logan had a Inguinal hernia as a result of his bowel surgery it seemed because of that Logan's right testicle has free run into the inguinal area which in small boys in totally normal erghhhh i couldn't believe it because of the dr incompetence we had a wasted trip into the cold, ohh well at least we knew everything was alright it is possible Logan may have to have surgery on it into the future but his surgeon with have to decide when thats needed.

With the scan done grandma and i went for some lunch whilst Logan was playing in his buggy, then we made the trip home in the cold, Logan is a little ratty this afternoon due to very little sleep so i am really hoping for an early night tonight for us all.

Beginning of a busy week.

Today is Monday the only day this week Logan doesn't have an appointment, it's going to be a busy one, Logan is feeling a little under the weather today he's teeth are really bothering him he cried all through his lunch that was of course until we came to the fruit which when down with no trouble at all ;) He cheered up a little after some Calpol and seems to be totally over it now.

Great Ormond street called today they have had to cancel Logan's appointment next friday due to the Dr not being available which means he is now going on March 1st great birthday present for mummy a trip to London :( still it has to be done so we don't complain.

The afternoon Logan and I are going to cook daddy some sausages and then have a cuddle and a play, hopefully Logan goes to bed early tonight so i can prepare for our trip to London tomorrow.

Fun Times

Today Logan and I played at home whilst Daddy went to get a new tyre for our car. We had lots of fun playing with all of Logan's toys including his drum, musical toys, and giggle ball, Logan is sitting supported much better now fingers crossed it won't be too much longer before he's doing it all my himself.

At Lunch time Logan was in a giggly mood laughing all through lunch at least it was laughter and not tears, He's doing so much better with eating now and seems to actually enjoy food trying new finger foods and even feeding himself milk and water out of a beaker.

After Lunch me and Logan played with his push and walk bunny he loves that thing and seems to be getting the hang on the push button to make it walk.

All that giggling and playing wore Logan out and he's having a lovely sleep now. Hopefully he will be ready for more playing when he wakes up.

Daddy needed to do some work during the afternoon so Logan and I went for a walk around Orpington for some fresh air, he loves to be out and about walking in his pram, we then went to Tesco to put the finishing touches to a special gift for daddy. All the fresh air tired Logan out and he was in bed by 8.15 blisssss.
